What Are Egypt's Legal Frameworks for Investment? This Conference Sets Off to Re-discuss the Norms

Bringing the business and the legal community together, the event will feature prominent speakers such as KarmSolar's CEO Ahmed Zahran and RiseUp's co-founder Con O'Donnell.

What' the future of the energy sector? How can Egypt overcome the challenges related to investing today? Where's the real estate sector going? These are some of the questions that will spark debate and trigger discussions at the Legal Framework For Investments conference, an event setting off to gather the business and the legal community together to map future possibilities not only in Egypt but also the MENA region.

Organised by Law Today, a publication bridging the gap between the legal and business communities in the MENA region, the conference will kick off on Saturday November25th, aiming to spark conversations and strengthen the enabling environment for investment in the country of Pharaohs. The event, which will be held at the Semiramis Hotel in the heart of Downtown Cairo, will feature industry experts and prominent entrepreneurs such as KarmSolar's CEO Ahmed Zahran, Mohamed el Taher, CEO, Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment, Sherif Hefni, Partner at Levari Law, and RisseUp's co-founder Con O’Donnell.

“Our intention is to take what we do at the magazine – that is to say, offering in-depth perspectives on commercial issues from business specialists, private practice lawyers, in-house counsel and government representatives – but to take it off the printed page and into a real-life environment” says Law Today's CEO Lucy Marx. The first magazine in the region working to promote access to legal knowledge and to articulate the needs of commercial entities to lawyers, Law Today is published on a quarterly basis and distributed to legal and business entities throughout Cairo. Recent issues of the magazine have examined issues such as the growth of the renewable energy sector, Egypt’s new Investment law and its applicability and how women lawyers have been overcoming challenges to thrive in a male-dominated industry.

“We really see ourselves as a platform” said co-Founder Mohab Said, who has worked to grow the company since its inception in early 2016. “We continually receive positive feedback about the work we are doing in the magazine, presenting multiple in-depth perspectives from legal and business experts. The one thing our partners keep asking for more of is the opportunity to meet in person to discuss these ideas. So that’s what we are doing with this conference”.
